We now have school email addresses for all the children. This is a fantastic site with numerous additional educational resources which we shall be introducing to the children over the coming months. It can be accessed from home and school using the child's own school username and password. This is a 'secure' site provided by Cambridgeshire County Council Education ICT Services for educational purposes only.

And in the beginning .................

At the beginning of 2006, our junior children from years 4 and 5 were asked if they would be interested in coming up with ideas for a school website. Not only did the children have to appreciate the level of commitment involved in such a new venture but also that the only time available to work on this task would be during a lunchtime club. Six children, agreed and after discussions with the ICT co-ordinator (Mrs Brown) and the ICT TA (Mrs Nicholls) they decided that they would like to have specific responsibilities as well as learning the broader aspects of creating a website. A "template" was agreed upon and each child then began the painstaking task of building the page they were responsible for, using HTML coding. The distribution of jobs resulted in the creation of additional responsibilities for powerpoint presentations for one child and school photographer for another. The other children spent a lot of time gathering information from within the school and also tried out the website links which can be found herein. The creation and maintenance of this site is an ongoing process and the skills needed to maintain it will be handed to the next generation of young website technicians from up and coming year groups. The variety of skills needed by the children for such a project has been a daunting task considering that (a) it had never been done before, (b) the development of ICT as a whole school initiative has only very recently been implemented and (c) this has been an immense task for a school with only around 60 children of an appropriate age. Needless to say we are all extremely proud of what these children have achieved. Well done to the ground breaking website team and thank you for all your hard work and endless effort, patience and enthusiasm.

So where do we go from here? .......... (watch this space)
