The Fantasy Art Competition was also a great success with many fantastic entries, here are examples of the winners from KS1 and KS2.

Chicks!!! Living Eggs are a company that provide "all you need to successfully hatch and raise chicks in the classroom". We were lucky enough to have 12 eggs which we kept warm in the incubator provided. We watched carefully and had to wait patiently (not always easy!) for the eggs to start hatching. We set up a webcam to take photos every 2 minutes over a 24 hour period. The success rate for hatching is normally around 50% but 11 of our eggs hatched which was really amazing. Please click the link below to see the movie of our chicks' first unsteady steps into the world! The chicks will be spending time in each of the classrooms over the next week. For information and to view the Living Eggs Website click here! |

Banham Zoo School Trip - KS1 We had the most wonderful time at Banham Zoo on 2nd July. The visit tied in with our topic work and Barnaby Bear. We saw wonderful and exotic animals and thoroughly enjoyed the day. All the children behaved exceptionally well and were a credit to our school. Here are some photos of our day... can you spot Barnaby in any of the photos?

Basketball Tournament On the 1st July we took two teams from year 5 and year 6 to Netherhall School for a Basketball Tournament. We played against approximately 10 other schools with fantastic results. Our Year 6 team played extremely well but our Year 5 Team won the whole tournament! These children were all superb ambassadors for our school, congratulations to you all.

| PE Week - 16th-20th June 2008 Here are some photos from our PE Week. It was a super week filled with lots of exciting activities, we were certainly tired out by the end of it. Disdance At the beginning of PE week we had a visit from Disdance, a dance company that provides dance workshops for school children. Each class received a lesson with the instructor during the day and we were treated to a performance from KS2 children before hometime. Great fun was had by all. If you would like to visit their website click the link: Disdance |

The Raptor Foundation On 4th June 2008 we had a visit from The Raptor Foundation, The Heath, St. Ives Road, Woodhurst, Cambridgeshire, PE28 3BT. We were given the opportunity to learn about some beautiful birds of prey. The Raptor Foundation looks after over 200 birds, from owls to hawks, buzzards to falcons and all the native British species of owl. The very knowledgeable falconers gave us a wonderful insight into the conservation and care of these amazing birds as well as allowing us the priviledge of meeting and touching some of the birds themselves. If you are interested in visiting or contacting The Raptor Foundation their telephone number is: 01487 741140 or take a look at the website: www.raptorfoundation.org.uk. |

Orchestra Calling all budding musicians... I would like to start up an orchestra for parents and children (but at a standard children can cope with!!). In the past I have run orchestras in schools that included recorders, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, a drummer, violins, cellos, double bass and percussion. So I am flexible - let me know your talents and we'll try to organise a good balance of sound! Children need to read some music but do not need to have passed exams. For more information and a copy of the form please visit the office. Liz Bassett - Head Teacher |
School Profile Information on how to access the new School Profile is now available on the "School Profile" link on the "HOME" page of our school website. The information contained in this online Profile has replaced the Governors' Annual Report to Parents. |

A STAMP CHAMP ![]() About 1 kilo of stamps could feed these pups for a day! |
Guide Dogs for the Blind At Fen Ditton School we collect all types of stamps, ordinary first and second class, higher value, special commemorative, foreign, etc. Stamps should be cut off the envelope leaving at least a 5mm border around them. The children can then put them in the box provided in the ICT suite. At the end of term nominated children sort the stamps into country of origin ready to send off. All your Christmas Stamps will be gratefully received!!!

| We
now have school email addresses for all the children. This is a fantastic
site with numerous additional educational resources which we shall be
introducing to the children over the coming months. It can be accessed
from home and school using the child's own school username and password.
This is a 'secure' site provided by Cambridgeshire County Council Education
ICT Services for educational purposes only. |
